Grind and sealed concrete is exactly like its name. The process involves grinding your concrete to make sure it is smooth, then sealing with a topical sealer. It can also include fixing any other cracks or damage to your concrete. Depending on your floor goals (i.e. desired finish and durability requirements), the concrete may be ground again with finer diamonds to further smooth the floor. If the concrete is soft, porous or free of contaminants, a second pass may not be necessary either. The concrete surface is cleaned, neutralized, and decontaminated first before the grind and seal process. The grinding means to get rid of any scratches and dirt from the surface of the concrete floor. High-powered concrete grinders are used for the grinding process that can refine the concrete to 100 grit and saturate the surface. Once the grinding is over, the sealing process seals the flooring with an application of a clear, protective coating. These sealing coats are made of acrylic, epoxy, or urethane. Depending on the size of the surface that you have, a typical grind and seal project will take about 2-3 days for around 800 square feet. It also depends on how many small spaces we are grinding down and how much detailed edge work we need to do.
